Hello & Hola!

I'm Liddy Romero-owner, baker, creator, business-builder.

I've loved my dad's cookies for as long as I can remember so after a year of change in 2024, I turned my attention to what brings me joy.  I made a massive career change, a love-life change, and cashed it all in to start Romero Cookies in Oct 2024.

Romero Cookies is my story of resilience, rebirth, and roots. I love sharing what has been such a central part of my "one wild and precious life" with you so that you, in turn, share with others.

Salud!

Our story begins with fire...

1946 – From the Ashes

In 1946, my great-parent’s bakery burned down to be rebuilt from the ashes. I cherish the phoenix in my logo as it honors our family’s resilience.

1950s – Edinburg, TX Bakery Opens

My grandparents opened their bakery in Edinburg, Texas and it still stands today.

1980s – A Family Tradition

My parents followed in their footsteps, opened our family bakery the year I was born, and for 40 years sold our beloved cookies storefront.

1990s – Childhood Memories

My childhood was filled with delicious fresh-baked Mexican and American treats. Our cookies were the centerpieces of many joyous celebrations and heartfelt memories.

2000s – Giving Back

My first baby was a social enterprise, WorkLife Partnership, that I founded and ran for 16 years. I had my three beautiful children during this time and spent 100% of my professional and personal resources supporting low-income workers and their employers through my nonprofit work.

Today – Carrying on the Tradition

In 2024, life knocked me off course—and reminded me where I come from. I returned to what was always there: a recipe, a memory, a legacy. Romero Cookies is my love letter to heritage, resilience, and becoming who I was always meant to be.
