🌙 ABOUT OUR LUNA Mexican Wedding Cookies:

Our Luna Cookies — meaning “moon” in Spanish — are made from a 40-year-old family recipe you won’t find anywhere else. Buttery, crumbly, and dusted with powdered sugar, they melt in your mouth and make people say, “These remind me of my childhood.”

(Also known as Mexican Wedding Cookies, Snowballs, or Russian Tea Cakes — but none taste quite like these.)

✨ TASTE:

Our Luna Cookies dazzle at any occasion — from elegant weddings and quinceañeras to holidays, birthdays, and quiet coffee moments at home.

Each cookie is crafted from our family’s authentic 40-year-old Mexican Wedding Cookie recipe, made for full flavor with toasted pecans for a perfectly balanced, nutty sweetness. Their soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture and delicate powdered sugar finish make this cookie perfectly sweet.

Customers often tell us every bite “tastes like home” or “reminds them of abuela.” It’s nostalgia, culture, and comfort all wrapped in one authentic, cherished cookie.

Though rooted in tradition, our Lunas go far beyond wedding or Mexican celebrations — they’re the perfect gift for any occasion or a treat to enjoy anytime you crave something sweet, buttery, and meaningful.

Once you’ve had a Luna, you’ll understand why people come back again and again — because no other cookie feels quite like home.

FAQ: Traditional Mexican Wedding Cookies

What’s in a Mexican wedding cookie?

Traditional Mexican wedding cookies are made from a simple shortbread dough. Luna follows this classic approach with ingredients like flour, sugar, shortening, eggs, vanilla, salt, and toasted pecans for a warm, nutty flavor. After baking, each cookie is finished with a generous coating of powdered sugar to create its soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Why do they call them Mexican wedding cookies?

They’re called Mexican wedding cookies because they’ve long been part of celebrations, especially weddings, holidays, and family gatherings. Their delicate, powdered-sugar finish and buttery crumb make them perfect for elegant dessert tables. The name also reflects their cultural roots, and in Spanish they’re often known as polvorones de boda or simply polvorones.

What is the cookie tradition at a wedding?

At weddings, cookies like these are often shared to symbolize joy, abundance, and sweetness in the newlyweds’ life together. Traditional Mexican wedding cookies are commonly served on dessert tables, packaged as favors, or placed in decorative tins for guests to enjoy. Their soft, powdered-sugar coating makes them a festive treat associated with celebration.

What is the difference between Italian and Mexican wedding cookies?

Both are shortbread-style cookies, but Mexican wedding cookies like Luna tend to be softer and more delicate, often made with toasted pecans and finished with a thick layer of powdered sugar. Italian wedding cookies can be denser, sometimes flavored with almond or anise, and may use glazes rather than powdered sugar. Each has its own cultural history, but the Mexican version is known for its melt-in-your-mouth texture and nutty, buttery flavor.
