Thinking of you Mija

"Mija" = "Mi + Hija" and a term of endearment  Hispanic moms and dads use to call their daughters.  We would even say it extends to a term aunts, godparents, and close friends of family use to call a 'daughter-like' person near and dear to them. 

Send this card as a care-package add-on to anyone leaving home or missing home - send them a taste, smell, and feeling that reminds them of their roots, of the love that binds, and that you'll always be their home. 

About the artist:

Charles Carreon (@artfelt) is the young artist we commissioned to create this card. Charles born in Mexico and grew up here in the U.S. under DACA. He studied Industrial Design at MSU Denver, but illustration has always been where he feels at home.

"It’s how I process things, where I let memory, emotion, and imagination meet. This piece came from a place of nostalgia. I was thinking about my past, where I come from, what I’ve been through, and how those moments, both the good and the hard, are what built me. The roots in the illustration represent where I started, the people and places that shaped me. And the dahlia, to me, represents the beauty in all of it, even the painful parts.

When I look back, I feel gratitude. Not because it was easy, but because I got to live it. I hope that when people see this work, they feel something from their own story too. Maybe it reminds them of home, or growth, or just that they’ve made it this far. That’s what I’m always trying to tap into."
